Murphy and I waiting 1.5 meters (at least) from our favorite Italian coffee bar.
Lately, I've been taking my camera with me on my morning dog walk with Murphy. We usually wander around the neighborhood until we reach some sort of coffee spot. It is Cornona quarantine time, so you can't go inside. But the coffee shops are open for take away.
I know what your thinking... Janet, you don't drink coffee. Ha! I drink the most watered down version, the Latte Machiatto. That means "stained milk". It's mostly milk with a dash of espresso and I drink it because it reminds me of my days in Italy.

Can you see the Heineken factory in the distance?
This statue is in a park that Murphy and I pass through on our way to the coffee shop. Its lovely, but commemorates the spot where the German occupiers shot a group of dutch resistance fighters. So it isn't a very happy statue. However the day after I took this photo, on our way through that same park, I spotted this.

Flowers in the trumpet
Someone had put flowers in the statue's trumpet, giving the statue a sweet new flavor.

Rose on the vine
Flowers seem to be a theme these April spring days. I see them everywhere on our walk. Luckily, the weather has been beautiful.

Flower bike man strikes again!
Across from the Rijksmuseum is this lawyers office (you heard that right! What an office!). It sits next to the bridge and a local artist who calls himself FlowerBikeMan (you can look him up on Instagram) has been collecting all his flower decorated bikes on it. It lifts the spirits in these depressing Corona times.

Another Rijksmuseum bridge.
As we head home we pass this bridge. I hadn't noticed it before because usually I'm biking, but you can see much more on a slow rambling walk sometimes. I found the Love lock bike bridge. So sweet!

Lovers put their names on the bike locks.

So that is the end of this meandering morning walk. Having the camera with me makes me look at what's around me, which is turning out to be a good new hobby for me. Amsterdam is interesting and beautiful and seeing that helps me keep my spirits up. Until the next time!
