The dutch word for a meandering walk is "wandeling". I think it is the perfect word. It reminds me of a cross between "waddle" and "changling". Cosy mixed with a not-so-scary magic.
A few days ago my husband Dan and I took a walk in the Jordaan neighborhood of Amsterdam. Luckily the Netherlands has not locked us all inside our houses so one of the few things we can still enjoy are walks. Wandeling in the city, I always see something interesting.

| How about these wooden flower planters tied to bridges with rope? |
The Jordaan is in an old part of the city, a working class neighborhood that was created to house the workers and craftsmen who poured into the city during the Golden Age, when the merchants were rolling in money. You can see the beauty of the workmanship of those times, even in the hooks that the narrow dutch buildings used to haul materials and supplies to the upper floors.

| We passed a ballet supply store with a pretty window display. |

A little corner cafe had a couple of permanent residents sitting outside. |
So you see, there is always something to see around the city if you look closely. These were only highlights of the things that you notice while wandeling!
